Self-Care and Supporting Your Own Well-being

If you need some extra support, advice and guidance or are looking for ways to improve your mental health and well-being, here are some links to other specialist organisations.

For many, local GP practices are the first place they go when they’re not feeling well. They can potentially make a diagnosis, offer support and treatments, refer to a mental health specialist or recommend local support options.  Struggling to speak to your GP? click here

The Macmillan Support Line offers confidential support to people who have or had cancer and their loved ones. If you are worried about money, work or the effects of treatment, or you just want to speak about whatever matters to you, their helpline is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

Cancer Support UK provides practical and emotional support to people living with cancer, both during and after the treatment period.

MIND’s website includes information and tools to help  improve mental wellbeing and self-care.  You can call their Infoline on 0300 123 3393, available 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday (except for bank holidays).

MIND's online community 'Side by Side' is a supportive forum where you can feel at home talking about mental health and connect with others who understand what you are going through.  Whether you’re feeling good or having a hard time, it’s a safe place to share experiences and listen to others.

Side by Side is available to everyone and is moderated by the team at Mind.

Shout 85258 is a free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging support service for anyone who is struggling to cope.

Anxiety UK deliver a wide range of services, including therapy, a helpline and text support.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) focuses on suicide prevention. CALM's helpline and livechat are open from 5pm to midnight every day. 365 days a year.

Rethink offer a network of mental health groups, services and advice lines and are on hand to get you the support you need. Use the postcode search tool to look for groups in your area.
