Join the Make Space Challenge

Life beyond cancer comes with a lot to carry, and sometimes life can feel very full.

We’re often busy juggling appointments, managing anxiety and trying to get back to a life that doesn’t quite feel the same. It’s a lot.

Support for life beyond cancer is massively underfunded, yet so many people need it. We don’t have big corporate money behind us, but we do have each other!

This is a ‘for us, by us’ movement

So we’re inviting our community to clear out a few things they no longer need and turn them into support for people navigating life beyond cancer.

That could mean selling clothes on Vinted, listing bits on Facebook Marketplace, doing a car boot sale, or finally tackling the drawer everyone avoids opening.

What’s the Make Space Challenge

Make Space is a community fundraising challenge from Mission Remission. The idea is simple: clear out unwanted items, sell them however works for you, and donate some or all of the proceeds to help support life beyond cancer.

So many of us carry physical reminders of treatment and recovery long after it ends. Wigs, unused products and clothes from another chapter of life. Things that no longer fit our bodies, lives or sense of self.

Make Space is a practical way for our community to support each other while doing something many of us were probably already meaning to do for a while anyway.

Why does the challenge exist?

Life beyond cancer can feel heavy in ways people don’t often don’t understand.

Sometimes making physical space around us can help create a little breathing room mentally too.

And at the same time, it can help fund spaces where people feel understood.

Every donation helps Mission Remission continue providing counselling sessions, recovery cafés, workshops, peer support and community spaces for people navigating life beyond cancer.

Who is it for?

This challenge is for people living beyond cancer, friends, family, supporters or anyone who wants a simple way to help.

You don’t need loads of energy or loads of expensive things to sell.

You can start with one bag, or clear out whatever feels manageable. A drawer, a wardrobe, a shelf or a whole room if you’re feeling ambitious.

By selling anything you no longer need through platforms like Vinted, Facebook Marketplace (or anywhere else that works for you!), and donating whatever you can, you can help support life beyond cancer

Some people might raise £25, others more. It all helps.
Do it as a self-care activity for yourself or get friends and family involved too!

Why support Mission Remission?

Mission Remission is the only UK charities dedicated to improving life beyond cancer.

We support over 22,000 people across the UK through services including fitness rehabilitation, therapy, recovery groups and community support.

Life beyond cancer is often where support drops away, despite being where many of the long-term challenges begin.

Everything we create is designed to be simple, accessible and led by lived experience.
