What is a Changemaker?

Our Changemakers are the heart of Mission Remission. They are volunteers who support all areas of the charity’s work and form a community who work together to create change – whether that’s providing life-affirming support to individuals through Mission Remission services, or creating radical changes in national policy.  As a grassroots organisation, our Changemaker community ARE Mission Remission – we need you!

Collectively, with the support of our wide network of Changemakers, Mission Remission is a force far greater than its size.  Whatever your interests, passions or talents, whatever your piece of the jigsaw, we’d like to welcome you to the team – change starts with us – together!

Join the Changemakers

Perhaps you’re keen to support other cancer survivors?  Or you’d like to become a health campaigner, but you’re unsure where to start? There are loads of ways you can get involved. From ‘Micro-Volunteering’ (if you have a few mins spare, here and there) to leading your own projects or joining our board of Trustees.

Changemaker roles include:

Campaigners

The needs of people with cancer are often ignored by those in power. Together we are taking on the Government, institutions and wider society to fight for better health services, faster diagnosis, more support to recover mentally and physically, and an end to cancer’s hidden toll – so we thrive emotionally, physically and financially beyond cancer.

To find out more about our current campaign Mission Secure take a look at our campaigns page, then fill in the form at the bottom of this page if you’d like to get involved.

Peer Supporters

We believe cancer survivors are experts by experience. People tell us that learning from others who have been through cancer helps them feel less alone, and that borrowing resilience, motivation and self-belief from others who have been in the same position is vital to their own post-cancer recovery.

Join the Changemaker Peer Support Team where we host an online support group, ‘Recovery Cafe’, and share your experiences of diagnosis, treatment, and moving forward from cancer to support someone else’s  recovery.

Fundraisers

Our fabulous fundraising team help to raise vital funds to support Mission Remission’s work.

Could you run a coffee morning? Organise a jumble sale or sell your unwanted clothes on Vinted?

Maybe you’d like to take part in a sponsored sports challenge, or host your own quiz night?

We’ll work with you and make your ideas happen!

Fundraise for Mission Remission – every single penny counts!

Champions

Do you like meeting new people and networking? Our champions represent Mission Remission in the community, at charity events, meetings and fundraisers, and online – spreading the word about our services on social media.

We’re looking for champions to help us share our services and campaigns far and wide!

Walk & Talk Leaders

Would you like to volunteer to help other cancer survivors to improve their fitness & build connections?

We are looking for people to lead ‘Walk & Talk’ activities. Choose a location near you and lead a gentle ramble – facilitating a safe and supportive space for cancer survivors to meet.  Safeguarding training will be provided.
